My most dreaded chore-groceries

I dread the trips to the grocery store. They wear me out. I do have foot pain, knee pain and back pain, so that is not unusual. It is my most dreaded chore.

Today, I went to our new Aldi's and then to Food City for some great bargains. I carry in about four sacks and then daughter and hubby bring in the rest. I figure if I plan the meals, cook the meals and buy the food, then they can carry in the groceries. ; 0

I am going to a couple more nearby stores tomorrow for some bargains and use some coupons. I try to do my "big" shopping every two or three weeks, depending on my energy and how I am feeling. My hubby is wonderful about picking up things that we run out of like bananas, milk, bread, cat food, etc. Now that he is working again, he can easily do this on his way home. I can't wait for my 12 year old to start driving! Won't that be wonderful?

My hubby got a phone call today about the job we have been praying about. Assuming he passes the physical and background check, he will have the job of his dreams!

Thank you all my praying friends. It is a blessing to have family and friends who have interceded for us and we are thanking God for answering those prayers.

Continue to pray for Robert's blood pressure to normalize and that he passes his physical with flying colors!

It's been a crazy week!

I haven't posted my Monday menu yet. We've been sorta busy. First off, Monday morning my mom called to say dad was taken to the emergency room by ambulance for chest pains. We had to rush to her house to be with her as she can barely walk, let alone drive. It's a good forty-five minute drive to her home. Turns out that dad was experiencing some sort of muscle pain but the doctors said his heart was fine. We are so thankful for that. We ended up leaving there after five and took the long way home and drove over Norris Dam and enjoyed the scenery. We picked up a pizza from Papa Murphey's to bake after we got home. It sure was good. It was a Bacon, Bacon, Bacon pizza.

Today, we got rid of our old den furniture, an almost new pub table and four chairs, our dining room suite, a coffee table and our old grill. We are getting a little bit of money to boot for that and it's less furniture to store and since we will more than likely be living in a smaller house we were going to need to get rid of all that anyway.

Hubby's blood pressure is still all over the place and it seems the medicine is just not working. Keep him in your prayers.

We haven't done school in two days. :( As Scarlett said, "tomorrow is another day."

The cyst on the Hubs was getting bigger. It also itched him a lot. We just didn't think we could justify the expense to have it removed. Then he thought it could be distracting prospective employers. So out it went. It was a textbook Lipoma. A benign cyst. Isn't she a beauty! He is no longer turning into a unicorn. Don't let anyone tell you they don't exist. I have the proof. Ha!

I'm asking all my online friends to remember my husband in prayer for his health and employment. His blood pressure has been dangerously high and is being monitored by his doctor and they are tweaking his meds. Also, he needs a job to support his family. He is under a lot of stress to get out of this house and into something paid for and is unable to do much at the moment because he just needs to rest. Pray for him.

The Errand Runner

Lately, my husband's unemployment and his being home with me has been getting on my last nerve. I have had to really work on my attitude. I have good days but many bad days. I'm a work in progress, remember?

But today, it is good to have a husband at home. Why? He is running errands for me. So, technically, he is really not at home is he. lol He is buying milk and bread and picking out two free movies from Red Box. He is taking books to McKays for cash. He is dropping off a load of no longer needed items to the Knox Area Rescue Mission, he is returning books to the library and later is taking bags of stuffed toys to a friend who has a friend who is going on a medical missions trip and will be taking stuffed toys. That's a lot of running around. This frees me up to do a little laundry, get the chili on for dinner, and most importantly home school my daughter.

What's happening?.

Hasn't this fall weather been absolutely gorgeous! I am really enjoying the milder temperatures. I could really live somewhere with this type of climate all year round. It's so comfortable. A few nights this past week it got rather chilly in the house and I lit our first fire in the fireplace. It was actually warmer outside than in. I love a good fire!

I didn't make it to church this morning. I woke up early and turned off the alarm and then fell back asleep. Hubby, who takes less time to do his morning ablutions, made it to Sunday School without us. I will listen to the service on line as our community group study is sermon based. It is soon to celebrate 50 years of age and I committed to praying for it every day for 50 days starting on October fourth.

Robert returned Saturday afternoon from his first men's retreat. They went to Fort Bluff Camp in Dayton, Tennessee. He took lots of photos for the church photo team and really enjoyed their speaker, Matthew St. John. You can read more about him at

We are plugging away on the homeschooling of Robyn. We are determined to do better this week and get caught up. We are a little bit behind schedule. She cannot play on any commputer games, Wii, Ds, etc. until she is caught up. She has agreed to this and understands.

Robert is going to attempt to fix our dryer this week. We are hoping it is repairable and we don't have to buy a new one. While he has the dryer pulled out of the laundry nook, I am going to clean, clean, clean in there and paint and would love to put down some inexpensive self-sticking tile to give it a clean and fresh appearance for very little money. I am sure we even have paint in the garage that we can use and not go to any expense there. It's a teeny-tiny laundry nook and you cannot clean around the appliances while they are in there. I am afraid to find out what is behind/beside that dryer and washer. Yuck. To be honest, we knew we wouldn't be able to clean, paint or retile until one of the appliances died. It's just that difficult to work in there. It's a closet really.

I am hoping that Robert will finish his carpet steaming and we can be done with that for the season, except for our master bedroom, which is not ready for having the carpet cleaned yet. Hopefully very soon though.

What's Happening in My House

Good afternoon. I hope you have had a good week. Ours got off to a rocky start with hubby having headaches and vomiting. Could it be stress? We must remember to cast all our cares on Him for He careth for us. Right? Sometimes easier said than done.

Home schooling was a catch-up week with Robyn redoing some of her past work. I don't know what I would do without Robert's help with Robyn's school work. I know that when that full time job comes along for him, I will be full-time teacher to Robyn (with some math help from daddy), so I really appreciate his help in easing me into this challenging job. But home schooling is something we all want to do and believe in so that makes it easier somehow. It is bringing us all closer as a family.

Our church is beginning a new series on A Homefront Alliance and our small group will follow along with this for about six weeks. Satan is attacking our homes and destroying marriages and I am looking forward to learning more ways of strengthening our home and marriage. Our small/community group is meeting on Tuesdays this year and we begin on the 24th. On Wednesday nights our church offers New Life classes and Robert and I are going to take the class His Needs Her Needs. See a trend here? lol

Today, Robert is volunteering at church and Robyn and I have been watching a movie about King Solomon. She is really enjoying this. This is coming up next in her home school bible and I thought this would be helpful to her. It has been really good. I am also climbing Mount Laundry, prepping dinner and doing general kitchen duties. I promise I am going to the store later Really.

My mom celebrates a big birthday on Sunday She will be 79! I thank God that he has brought her through cancer twice, and healed her from sepis with 48 hours to live. God is good! We will be going up to her house after lunch on Sunday and I will take her a Banana Pudding (mostly sugar-free) as a birthday treat for her. She doesn't need all that sugar, (does anyone?) and it will be nice to spend the afternoon with her and dad.

Back already?

Yep. I said I wouldn't be around much but just had to post this picture of my hubby. Do you see the antennae on his head? He is being a busy bee around the house today. He has a lot on his plate. Procrastination has snuck up and bit him in the bee-hind. lol That's him picking the feathers out of daughter's mattress pad cover. Huh, you ask? Well, we like feather beds. Mommy and Daddy have a king sized one. Daughter's is shedding. Actually hubby said it looked like it had thrown up feathers. He stripped the bed so I can wash everything and even though the feather bed is on the mattress with the mattress pad cover over it, feathers crept out every where. I guess this should be done more often and the mess wouldn't seem quite so overwhelming. I have some laundry drying on the deck, or we would bring the feather bed itself down, but I don't want icky feathers all over my clean clothes! Tomorrow would be a better day to shake that baby out and drape it over the deck to get some fresh air and sunshine.

Clothes on the deck, you ask? I have a hang away thangy that I bought from QVC or HSN that is a neat little contraption that folds up and is easily put away. I like to open it up and put it out on the deck and "line" dry clothes every once in a while. I love that fresh smell. Pollen is a culprit though if you have allergies. The clothes are a little stiffer but that seems to go away quite quickly once you put on the clothes. Why is that? Also, the dryer is sounding a little worse for wear lately. Sometimes it sounds like there's a donkey in my laundry room! lol

My servants, the dishwasher and the washer and dryer, are working away for me today. I love my electric servants, don't you? I have done a pretty good job of trying to do a load of laundry every day or so rather than letting it wait until Monday and trying to do it all. With my back giving me grief, I find the once a day or so laundry job to be much easier for me. But, today I am working on the girl's bed linens, curtain topper, and the guest room linens, all the way down to the bed skirt. In between, I hand wash a few kitchen items and sit in my big red comfy recliner with my laptop, sipping coffee or water, studying Ezra, (enjoying my Logos Bible program), planning my week, and searching the web.

We didn't have our date night last night. Our church had a One Night marriage event and we registered to attend and even paid the $10 but my head was hurting and Robert seemed overwhelmed by prepping for his Marketing class he is teaching for LMU on Tuesday. He is almost done with his syllabus. He teaches this class on Tuesday evenings for five weeks. After that he has a Project Management class for seven weeks here in Knoxville. We are so thankful for his position as Adjunct Professor at LMU. This is part-time work, but it is work. If it works out for him, this could be something he continues to do after getting a full-time job.

Okay. Enough yakking. Back to work for me.

Happy Father's Day to my Hubby!

I am so thankful that God sent Robert to me to be my husband over 11 years ago! Our love for one another has only grown deeper over the years. Thank you dh for all you do for me and the Pooh and for being an exceptional father! I love you!

Robert and his job hunt

Robert got good news today. He is on the top 10 list for a job out of a list of 45 applicants. Interviews will begin at the end of the month. Please pray for him to find and get the job the Lord would have him to have. We both are excited about this news. He has only had a few nibbles since beginning his job hunt and no interviews thus far. So this is very good news indeed.

My hubby-I think I'll keep him.
